For the Beer-Battered Fish

Prepare the Batter
In a bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually whisk in the beer until the batter is smooth and free of lumps. Set aside.

Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the oil over medium-high heat to 350°F (175°C).

Batter the Fish
Dip each fish fillet into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated.

Fry the Fish
Carefully place the battered fish into the hot oil and fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Prepare the Potatoes
Peel the potatoes and cut them into thick strips to form fries.

In a separate pot or deep fryer, heat the oil over medium-high heat to 350°F (175°C).

Fry the Potatoes
Carefully add the cut potatoes to the hot oil in batches, frying for about 5-7 minutes until they are golden and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels, season with salt while hot.

In a bowl, combine the mayonnaise, chopped dill pickles, capers, and lemon juice. Mix well.
