For the Beer-Battered Fish

Method

For the Beer-Battered Fish

  1. 1

    Prepare the Batter

In a bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually whisk in the beer until the batter is smooth and free of lumps. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the oil over medium-high heat to 350°F (175°C).

  3. 3

    Batter the Fish

Dip each fish fillet into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated.

  4. 4

    Fry the Fish

Carefully place the battered fish into the hot oil and fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.

For the Fries

  1. 5

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel the potatoes and cut them into thick strips to form fries.

  2. 6

    Heat the Oil

In a separate pot or deep fryer, heat the oil over medium-high heat to 350°F (175°C).

  3. 7

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add the cut potatoes to the hot oil in batches, frying for about 5-7 minutes until they are golden and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels, season with salt while hot.

For the Tartar Sauce

  1. 8

    Mix Ingredients

In a bowl, combine the mayonnaise, chopped dill pickles, capers, and lemon juice. Mix well.

  2. 9

    Season

Add salt and black pepper to taste, adjusting based on preference.
