Method
Bread & Spread
- 1
Assemble sandwiches
Lay out 8 slices of milk bread. Spread about 2 tablespoons of creamy peanut butter evenly on 4 slices. Top each spread slice with the remaining 4 slices to form 4 sandwiches, pressing gently to seal edges. Trim crusts if you prefer neater edges (optional).
Egg Coating
- 2
Prepare egg wash
In a shallow bowl wide enough to fit the sandwiches, whisk together 2 large eggs, 2 tablespoons whole milk, 1 teaspoon granulated sugar (optional) and a pinch of salt until smooth and slightly frothy.

- 4
Heat pan
Place a large nonstick or cast-iron skillet over medium heat. Add 3 tablespoons unsalted butter and 1 tablespoon neutral oil. Heat until butter is fully melted and begins to foam but not brown, about 1–2 minutes.
- 5
Pan-fry sandwiches
Add 2 sandwiches to the pan (do not overcrowd). Cook 2–3 minutes on the first side until deep golden brown and crisp. Carefully flip and cook the second side 2–3 minutes until golden and the peanut butter inside is warmed and slightly melty. Adjust heat to prevent burning; lower to medium-low if browning too quickly. Remove to a wire rack or paper-towel-lined plate and repeat with remaining sandwiches, adding a little more butter if needed.

Finish and plate
Let sandwiches rest 1 minute, then slice each diagonally in half. Arrange on a serving plate. Drizzle additional sweetened condensed milk over the top to taste (about 1–2 tablespoons per sandwich, using the reserved cup). Sprinkle toasted crushed peanuts over the drizzle if using.

Serving suggestion
Serve immediately while hot and crispy. These are best eaten right away so the exterior stays crisp and the interior is warm and gooey.
