Method
Fried Chicken Directions
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and salt. Add the chicken pieces, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
- 2
Prepare the Coating
In another bowl, mix the flour, paprika, black pepper, and remaining salt. This will be the coating for the chicken.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large, deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Coat the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing excess buttermilk to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, ensuring an even coating. Shake off any excess flour.
- 5
Fry the Chicken
Carefully place the coated chicken pieces in the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 12-15 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- 6
Drain and Serve
Once cooked, transfer the chicken to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot and enjoy your delicious fried chicken!
