Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Steak

In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, minced garlic, chopped rosemary, chopped thyme, salt, and black pepper to create the marinade. Place the New York strip steaks in a resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish, pour the marinade over the steaks, ensuring they are well-coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or up to overnight for maximum flavor.

Cooking

  1. 2

    Preheat the Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill to high heat (about 450-500°F) or heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat on the stovetop.

  2. 3

    Cook the Steak

Remove the steaks from the marinade, allowing excess marinade to drip off. Place the steaks on the hot grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side for medium-rare, or until a nice crust forms. Flip the steaks and cook for another 4-5 minutes, depending on your desired doneness.

  3. 4

    Add Butter and Garnish (Optional)

If desired, add a tablespoon of butter on top of each steak during the last minute of cooking for added richness. Remove the steaks from the heat and let them rest for about 5 minutes before serving. Optionally, garnish with chopped fresh parsley before slicing and serving.
