Lobster Preparation
Method
Lobster Cooking
- 1
Boil the Lobster
Fill a large pot with water and add 1 tablespoon of sea salt. Bring the water to a rolling boil. Carefully add the whole Maine lobster to the pot and cover. Boil for about 8-10 minutes until the lobster is bright red and cooked through. Remove the lobster from the pot and let it cool slightly.
- 2
Prepare the Lobster
Once the lobster is cool enough to handle, place it on a cutting board. Using a sharp knife, carefully split the lobster in half lengthwise, starting from the head and moving down to the tail. Remove the organs and any debris from the shell.
- 3
Make the Garlic Butter
In a small saucepan, melt 4 tablespoons of butter over low heat. Add 2 minced garlic cloves and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes. Stir in 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley, 1 teaspoon of paprika, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper. Mix well.
- 4
Broil the Lobster
Preheat your broiler. Place the lobster halves shell-side down on a baking sheet. Brush the garlic butter mixture generously over the meat of the lobster. Place the baking sheet under the broiler for about 3-5 minutes, or until the lobster meat is bubbling and slightly golden.
- 5
Serve
Remove the lobster from the oven and let it cool for a minute. Serve the half Maine lobster hot, garnished with additional parsley if desired.
