Ingredients for Grolsch Lager
Method
Brewing Directions for Grolsch Lager
Mashing
In a large mash tun, combine the malted barley with hot water at around 65°C (149°F). Allow it to mash for about 60 minutes.
Lautering
After mashing, drain the liquid (wort) from the mash tun. Rinse the grains with hot water to extract as much sugar as possible.
Boiling
Boil the wort in a large kettle, adding hops at the beginning of the boil. Continue boiling for about 60 minutes.
Cooling
After boiling, cool the wort quickly to around 20°C (68°F) using a wort chiller.
Fermentation
Transfer the cooled wort to a fermentation vessel and add the yeast. Seal the vessel and allow fermentation to occur for about 2 weeks.
Conditioning
After fermentation is complete, transfer the beer to a conditioning tank. Add corn sugar for carbonation and allow it to condition for another 2 weeks.
