Pizza Dough
Method
Preparation
- 1
Make the Dough
In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Prepare the Dough
Mix in the olive oil and salt, then gradually add the flour, mixing until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- 3
Let the Dough Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- 4
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your wood-burning oven to about 500°F (260°C).
- 5
Shape the Pizza
Punch down the risen dough and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer to a pizza peel or baking tray.
- 6
Add Sauce and Toppings
Spread tomato sauce over the dough, then layer with mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, bell peppers, red onions, and black olives. Sprinkle with crushed red pepper flakes and fresh basil.
- 7
Bake the Pizza
Slide the pizza into the wood-burning oven and bake for about 8-12 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- 8
Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a minute, then slice and serve hot.
