Fried Pickles
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Pickles
Drain the dill pickles and pat them dry with paper towels. This helps prevent the batter from becoming soggy.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. Pour the egg mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Fry the Pickles
Dip each pickle slice into the batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place the battered pickles into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- 5
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried pickles from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with ranch dressing on the side.
