Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dough Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil, and stir until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let the Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Assembling the Pizza

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat up.

  2. 6

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out into a 12-inch circle.

  3. 7

    Add Sauce and Cheese

Spread the tomato sauce evenly on the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Tear the mozzarella into pieces and distribute it over the sauce.

  4. 8

    Add Basil and Drizzle Oil

Tear the basil leaves and scatter them over the cheese. Drizzle olive oil on top and add salt to taste.

  5. 9

    Bake the Pizza

Carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated stone or baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.

  6. 10

    Slice and Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a minute, then slice and serve hot.
