Method
Preparing the Mozzarella Sticks
- 1
Prepare the Cheese
Cut the mozzarella sticks in half if you prefer shorter sticks. This is optional.
- 2
- 3
Bread the Mozzarella Sticks
Dip each mozzarella stick in flour, shaking off the excess. Then, dip it in the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off, and finally coat it with the breadcrumb mixture. Press the breadcrumbs onto the cheese to ensure they adhere well.
- 4
Chill the Mozzarella Sticks
Place the breaded mozzarella sticks on a plate and freeze for at least 30 minutes to help them hold their shape during frying.
Making the Marinara Sauce
- 5
Sauté Garlic
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, heat the olive oil and sauté minced garlic cloves until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
- 6
- 7
Simmer Sauce
Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer, reduce the heat to low, and let it cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Frying the Mozzarella Sticks
- 8
- 9
Fry Mozzarella Sticks
Carefully add the frozen mozzarella sticks to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- 10
Serve
Serve the hot mozzarella sticks with the marinara sauce for dipping.
