Cocktail Ingredients
Method
Preparation
- 1
Muddle the Mint
In a sturdy glass or cocktail shaker, add the fresh mint leaves and use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently press the leaves. This releases the mint oils and enhances the flavor of the cocktail. Be careful not to shred the leaves too much.
- 2
Add Lime Juice and Simple Syrup
Pour in the fresh lime juice and simple syrup over the muddled mint. The simple syrup can be made by combining equal parts sugar and water, heating until the sugar dissolves, and allowing it to cool.
- 3
Mix in the Rum
Add the white rum to the glass or shaker. Stir or shake gently to combine the ingredients well.
- 4
Prepare the Glass
Fill a tall glass with ice cubes, leaving some room at the top for the soda water.
- 5
Combine with Soda Water
Strain the mint, lime, and rum mixture over the ice-filled glass. Top it off with soda water to your liking, usually about 4 oz.
- 6
Garnish and Serve
Garnish with lime wedges and mint sprigs. Serve immediately with a straw and enjoy your refreshing mojito!
