Beer Ingredients
Method
Brewing Process
- 1
Mashing
Heat 20 liters of water in a large kettle to around 65°C (149°F). Add 5 kg of crushed barley malt to the water and stir. Maintain the temperature for 60 minutes to convert starches into sugars.
- 2
Lautering
Once mashing is complete, drain the liquid (wort) from the grains into another kettle. Rinse the grains with an additional 5 liters of hot water to extract more sugars.
- 3
Boiling
Bring the wort to a boil and add 200 grams of hops. Boil for 60 minutes. This process helps to extract flavors and bitterness from the hops.
- 4
Cooling
After boiling, cool the wort as quickly as possible using a wort chiller or an ice bath until it reaches about 20°C (68°F).
- 5
Fermentation
Transfer the cooled wort to a fermentation vessel. Sprinkle 11 grams of yeast on top. Seal the vessel with an airlock and let it ferment in a dark, cool place for about 1-2 weeks.
- 6
Bottling
Once fermentation is complete, dissolve 100 grams of priming sugar in a small amount of water and add it to the beer. Bottle the beer using clean bottles and caps. Leave the bottles at room temperature for another 1-2 weeks to carbonate.
- 7
Enjoying
After carbonation is complete, chill the bottles in the refrigerator. Pour into a glass and enjoy your homemade draft beer!
