Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Onions

Peel the onions and slice them thinly into shoestrings. You can use a mandoline for even thickness.

  2. 2

    Make the Coating

In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Coat the Onions

Dredge the sliced onions in the flour mixture until well coated. Shake off any excess flour.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Onions

Carefully add the coated onions to the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 3-5 minutes.

  6. 6

    Drain and Serve

Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried onions and transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve warm.
