Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Pat the rib eye steak dry with paper towels. Rub both sides of the steak with olive oil, then season generously with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Cook the Steak

Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Place the seasoned rib eye steak in the skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare. Adjust cooking time for desired doneness.

  3. 3

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked, transfer the steak to a plate and cover it with aluminum foil. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes.

Vegetable Preparation

  1. 4

    Blister the Tomatoes

In the same skillet, add the cherry tomatoes and cook for 2-3 minutes until they blister and start to burst. Remove and set aside.

  2. 5

    Sauté the Mushrooms

Add a little more olive oil to the skillet if needed, then add the sliced mushrooms. Sauté for about 5 minutes until they are golden brown and cooked through.

  3. 6

    Broil the Asparagus

Preheat the broiler. Place the asparagus on a baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Broil for about 5-7 minutes, turning halfway, until tender and slightly charred.

Salad Preparation

  1. 7

    Prepare the Salad

In a large bowl, combine mixed greens, sliced cucumber, and halved cherry tomatoes.

  2. 8

    Dress the Salad

In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper. Drizzle over the salad and toss to combine.

Serving

  1. 9

    Plate the Dish

Slice the rested rib eye steak and serve with blistered tomatoes, sautéed mushrooms, and broiled asparagus on the side. Serve the salad in a separate bowl.

  2. 10

    Char the Lemon

Cut the lemon in half and place cut-side down on the skillet for about 2 minutes until charred. Serve alongside the steak.
