Method

Burger Preparation

  1. 1

    Form the Patties

Divide the ground beef into two equal portions and form them into patties, about 1/2 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

  2. 2

    Cook the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove from the pan and place on paper towels to drain excess grease.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

In the same skillet, cook the patties over medium-high heat for about 3-4 minutes on one side. Flip the patties, place a cheese slice on each patty, and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the cheese melts.

Fried Onions Preparation

  1. 4

    Slice the Onion

Peel and thinly slice the onion into rings.

  2. 5

    Prepare the Batter

In a bowl, combine buttermilk and salt. In another bowl, place flour. Dip the onion rings into the buttermilk mixture, then coat with flour.

  3. 6

    Fry the Onions

Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat. Fry the onion rings in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Place on paper towels to drain.

Special Sauce Preparation

  1. 7

    Mix the Sauce

In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, and paprika. Mix well until smooth.

Assembly

  1. 8

    Assemble the Burger

Spread the special sauce on the bottom bun. Place a patty with melted cheese on top, followed by crispy bacon, fried onions, and lettuce. Top with the other half of the bun.

  2. 9

    Serve

Serve the DBL Smash Burger with a pickle spear and a side of kettle chips.
