Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Vegetables

Slice the onion and mushrooms. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter. Sauté the onions until they are caramelized, about 10 minutes. Add the mushrooms and cook for an additional 5 minutes until they're soft. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  2. 2

    Cook the Burger Patties

In another skillet, cook the burger patties over medium-high heat for about 4-5 minutes per side until they reach desired doneness. Top each patty with 2 slices of swiss cheese during the last minute of cooking to let it melt.

  3. 3

    Toast the Bread

In the same skillet used for the patties, melt the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter. Add the sourdough slices and toast until golden brown on both sides.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Melt

Spread 1 tablespoon of May-1 sauce on each slice of toasted sourdough. Place a burger patty on two slices, followed by the sautéed mushrooms and caramelized onions. Top with crispy onions and cover with the remaining slices of sourdough.

  5. 5

    Serve

Slice the sandwiches in half and serve hot with your choice of sides.
