Directions

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Cheese Sauce

In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute to form a roux. Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Continue cooking until the sauce thickens.

  3. 3

    Add Cheese and Seasonings

Remove the pot from heat and stir in the cheddar cheese, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.

  4. 4

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir until well coated. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Topping

In a small bowl, mix the bread crumbs and parmesan cheese. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the macaroni and cheese.

  6. 6

    Bake

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the macaroni and cheese for about 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and crispy.

  7. 7

    Serve

Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your cheesy, gooey goodness!
