Measure and combine
Add 2 oz Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz simple syrup, and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters into a cocktail shaker.

Add ice and shake
Add a generous scoop of ice (about 1 cup) to the shaker. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the exterior of the shaker is cold and slightly frosted.

Strain the contents into a chilled old-fashioned glass over fresh ice (or serve neat in the glass if preferred).
