Preparation of Mussels

Clean the Mussels
Rinse the fresh mussels under cold water, scrubbing the shells to remove any dirt. Remove the beards by pulling them from the side of the mussels.

Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Add Wine and Seasonings
Pour in the dry white wine, lemon juice, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for about 5 minutes.

Bake the Mussels
Spoon the mussels and sauce into a baking dish. Pour the marinara sauce over the mussels evenly.

Prepare the Topping
In a bowl, combine breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, and chopped parsley. Mix well and then sprinkle the mixture evenly over the mussels.

Bake
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the mussels have opened up.

Serve Hot
Remove the mussels from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Serve hot, garnished with additional parsley if desired.
