Prepare Glass & Garnish
Cut one thin slice from the Fresno chile for garnish and set aside. Reserve the remainder of the Fresno for muddling (see next section).
Mixing the Cocktail
In a cocktail shaker or mixing glass, add the half Fresno chile (the remaining 0.5 chile). Remove seeds if you want milder heat; keep seeds for more spice.
Muddle the Fresno gently 6–8 times to release juices and oils but avoid pulverizing it — you want some texture and bright chile flavor, not too much bitterness.
Add the mango nectar (11 oz), fresh lime juice (0.75 oz), and simple syrup (0.5 oz) into the shaker. Add a generous handful of ice (about 1 cup).
Shake vigorously for 8–10 seconds to chill and lightly dilute the mixture. If you used a large mixing glass instead, stir briskly for about 10 seconds to combine and chill.
Strain the shaken mixture into the prepared glass over fresh ice (fill glass about two-thirds full). Use a fine strainer if you prefer no chile bits in the final drink.
Top gently with chilled lemon-lime soda (about 2 oz) to add effervescence. Stir once very gently to integrate soda without flattening it.
Finish & Serve
Garnish with the lime wheel on the rim and the thin Fresno slice laid on top or skewered. Taste and adjust sweetness with a tiny splash more simple syrup if desired, or add another squeeze of lime for brightness.
Serve immediately while the soda is bubbly. Estimated spice level: medium (adjust Fresno quantity or remove seeds to lower heat).
