Method

Prepare the Filling

  1. 1

    Cook the Meats

In a large skillet, cook the ground pork over medium heat until browned. Add the diced duck breast and cook until browned. Remove excess fat.

  2. 2

    Sauté Vegetables

Add the chopped onion, carrots, celery, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until vegetables are softened.

  3. 3

    Add Seasoning

Stir in thyme, rosemary, chicken broth, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.

Prepare the Mashed Potatoes

  1. 4

    Boil Potatoes

In a large pot, boil the cubed potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15 minutes. Drain.

  2. 5

    Mash and Mix

Add butter and milk to the drained potatoes. Mash until smooth and creamy. Season with salt.

Assemble the Shepherd's Pie

  1. 6

    Layer the Filling

In a baking dish, spread the meat and vegetable mixture evenly.

  2. 7

    Top with Mashed Potatoes

Spread the mashed potatoes over the meat mixture. Use a fork to create texture on top.

  3. 8

    Bake

Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F). Bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown.

Make the Fruit Ketchup

  1. 9

    Cook the Ketchup

In a small saucepan, combine mixed berries, sugar, apple cider vinegar, salt, and black pepper. Cook over medium heat until berries break down and mixture thickens, about 15 minutes.

  2. 10

    Blend (Optional)

For a smoother texture, blend the ketchup until desired consistency is achieved.
