Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Slice the ribeye steak thinly against the grain. This will help ensure the steak is tender and easy to chew.

  2. 2

    Cook the Onions and Mushrooms

In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and cook for about 5 minutes until softened.

  3. 3

    Add the Mushrooms

Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet with the onions. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms are golden brown. Season with salt and black pepper.

  4. 4

    Cook the Steak

Push the onions and mushrooms to one side of the skillet and add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the sliced steak to the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until browned, stirring occasionally.

  5. 5

    Add Cheese

Once the steak is cooked to your liking, reduce the heat to low and place the slices of white American cheese on top of the steak. Cover the skillet for a minute or two until the cheese is melted.

  6. 6

    Assemble the Cheesesteak

Slice the hoagie rolls in half. Using a spatula, scoop the cheesy steak and vegetable mixture into each hoagie roll. If desired, top with hot or sweet peppers.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the cheesesteaks warm, and enjoy your homemade classic cheesesteak!
