Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Take the Westholme Tomahawk steak out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This helps the steak cook more evenly.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Rub the steak with olive oil, and season generously with salt and pepper on both sides.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Preheat a grill or skillet over high heat. Sear the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until it reaches your desired doneness. Use a meat thermometer for accuracy.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Maitake Mushrooms

While the steak is cooking, heat a separate skillet over medium heat. Add a tablespoon of olive oil and the maitake mushrooms. Sauté until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.

  5. 5

    Add Black Garlic

Mince the black garlic cloves and add them to the skillet with the mushrooms. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring to combine.

  6. 6

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked, remove the steak from the heat and let it rest for about 10 minutes before slicing.

  7. 7

    Serve

Slice the tomahawk steak and serve it topped with the sautéed maitake mushrooms and black garlic. Garnish with fresh thyme.
