Filet Ingredients

Method

Filet Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Filet

Remove the Black Angus filet mignon from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This helps in even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Filet

Pat the filets dry with paper towels. Rub both sides with olive oil, then season generously with salt, black pepper, and fresh rosemary.

  3. 3

    Sear the Filet

Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the filets to the skillet. Sear for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness.

  4. 4

    Add Garlic and Butter

During the last minute of cooking, add butter and crushed garlic cloves to the skillet. Baste the filets with the melted butter and garlic for extra flavor.

  5. 5

    Rest and Serve

Remove the filets from the skillet and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving. This helps the juices redistribute.
