Method
Preparing the Bread
- 1
Slice the Bread
Using a serrated knife, slice the baguette or Italian bread into 1/2 inch thick slices.
- 2
Toast the Bread
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the bread slices on a baking sheet and brush both sides lightly with olive oil. Bake in the preheated oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until the bread is golden and crispy.
Preparing the Topping
- 3
Chop the Tomatoes
Dice the fresh tomatoes and place them in a mixing bowl.
- 4
Prepare the Basil
Rinse the basil leaves, pat them dry, and tear them into smaller pieces. Add to the bowl with the tomatoes.
- 5
Mince the Garlic
Peel and finely mince the garlic cloves, then add them to the mixing bowl.
- 6
Combine Ingredients
Add the balsamic vinegar, salt, and black pepper to the tomato mixture. Toss everything together until well combined. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
Assembling the Bruschetta
- 7
Top the Bread
Once the bread is toasted, remove it from the oven and let it cool slightly. Spoon the tomato topping generously onto each slice of toasted bread.
- 8
Serve
Arrange the bruschetta on a serving platter and serve immediately for the best flavor and texture.
