Preparation Steps
Prepare the Sponge Cake
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a medium round cake pan. Prepare a sponge cake batter and pour it into the pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let it cool completely.
Assemble the Ice Cream
Once the sponge cake is cooled, slice it into individual rounds for each serving. Place each round on a baking sheet. Add a scoop of your selected ice cream on top of each sponge cake round.
Make the Meringue
In a mixing bowl, beat the egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add powdered sugar while continuing to beat until stiff peaks form. The meringue should be glossy and hold its shape.
Top with Meringue
Using a spatula, spread a generous layer of meringue over each ice cream-topped sponge cake, ensuring that the ice cream is completely sealed within the meringue.
Bake the Alaska
Preheat the oven to 500°F (260°C). Place the assembled Baked Alaska in the oven for about 3-5 minutes, just until the meringue is golden brown. Keep a close eye on it to prevent burning.
Serve with Chocolate Sauce
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Drizzle warm chocolate sauce over the top before serving. Enjoy your individual Baked Alaska!
