Method

Preparing the Pork Chops

  1. 1

    Marinate the Pork Chops

In a bowl, combine olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to create a marinade. Place the pork chops in a zip-top bag or a shallow dish, and pour the marinade over the chops. Make sure they are well coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours for best flavor.

  2. 2

    Grilling or Cooking the Chops

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Take the marinated pork chops out of the fridge and let them come to room temperature for about 15 minutes. Grill the pork chops for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until they have nice grill marks and are cooked through (internal temperature should reach 145°F/63°C). If you prefer BBQ style, brush BBQ sauce on the chops during the last few minutes of grilling.

Preparing the Side Items

  1. 3

    Cooking Green Beans

In a medium pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the green beans and cook for about 5-7 minutes until tender but still crisp. Drain and set aside.

  2. 4

    Making Mashed Potatoes

Peel and chop potatoes into quarters. Boil in salted water until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and return to the pot. Mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper to taste. Keep warm until serving.

  3. 5

    Preparing Corn on the Cob

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the corn and boil for about 5-7 minutes until tender. Remove from water and serve with butter and salt, if desired.

  4. 6

    Making Coleslaw

In a large bowl, combine shredded cabbage and carrots. In a separate bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper. Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture and toss well. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
