Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Prepare glass

Select a chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass. Pour a small amount (about 1/4 teaspoon) of absinthe into the glass, swirl to coat the interior, then discard or reserve the excess. This leaves a faint anise note without overpowering the drink.

  2. 2

    Combine ingredients

In a mixing glass or cocktail shaker, add ice, elderflower liqueur (0.75 oz), Lillet Blanc (1.0 oz), and fresh lemon juice (0.5 oz).

  3. 3

    Stir and chill

Stir the mixture briskly for 20–30 seconds (about 15–20 full strokes) until well chilled and properly diluted. If you prefer a slightly brighter lift, shake for 8–10 seconds instead.

  4. 4

    Strain

Double-strain the cocktail into the absinthe-rinsed chilled glass to remove ice chips and ensure a silky texture.

Garnish

  1. 5

Express a lemon twist over the surface of the drink to release oils, then run the twist around the rim and drop it into the drink.

  2. 6

Optionally float an edible flower or a small sprig of micro-herbs for an apothecary aesthetic. Serve immediately.
