Method

Prepare Tuna Salad

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a medium-sized bowl, combine the canned tuna, mayonnaise, finely chopped celery, red onion, dijon mustard, salt, black pepper, and lemon juice. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.

Make Cheese Sauce

  1. 2

    Create the Roux

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add the all-purpose flour and whisk continuously for about 1 minute to create a roux.

  2. 3

    Add Milk

Gradually whisk in the milk until the mixture is smooth. Continue to whisk and cook for about 3-4 minutes, until the sauce thickens.

  3. 4

    Incorporate Cheese and Spices

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Stir until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is creamy.

Assemble the Tuna Melt

  1. 5

    Toast the Buns

Preheat a skillet or grill over medium heat. Cut the brioche buns in half and toast them in the skillet until golden brown.

  2. 6

    Build the Sandwich

On the bottom half of each toasted brioche bun, generously spoon some of the prepared tuna salad. Drizzle the cheese sauce over the tuna salad, then place the top half of the bun on top.

  3. 7

    Serve

Serve the tuna melt sandwiches immediately with a side of potato chips.
