Method
Chicken Fried Chicken
- 1
Prepare the Chicken
Flatten the chicken breasts to an even thickness with a meat mallet. This helps them cook evenly.
- 2
Marinate the Chicken
In a bowl, combine buttermilk, eggs, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Add the chicken breasts and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- 3
Coat the Chicken
In a shallow dish, place the flour. Remove the chicken from the marinade, letting excess drip off, and dredge in the flour, coating thoroughly.
- 4
Fry the Chicken
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Chicken Gravy

Make the Roux
In a skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden.
- 9
Add the Broth
Slowly whisk in the chicken broth, ensuring no lumps form. Bring to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 5 minutes.
- 10
Season the Gravy
Add salt and black pepper to taste. Stir well and keep warm until ready to serve.
Vegetable Side
- 11
Prepare the Vegetables
If using green beans, trim the ends. If using corn, heat in a pot with a little water until warmed through.
- 12
Cook the Vegetables
Boil or steam the green beans until tender, about 5 minutes, or simply serve the corn warm.
Dinner Roll
- 13
Serve the Rolls
Warm the dinner rolls in the oven or microwave before serving.
