Method
Bread Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt.
- 3
Combine Mixtures
Once the yeast mixture is frothy, add it to the dry ingredients along with the olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
- 4
Kneading the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 5
First Rise
Place the kneaded dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
Baking
- 6
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 7
Shape the Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Shape it into a loaf or divide it into smaller rolls.
- 8
Second Rise
Place the shaped dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rise again for about 30-45 minutes until puffy.
- 9
Add Toppings
If desired, sprinkle sesame seeds, herbs, and sea salt on top of the dough before baking.
- 10
Bake the Bread
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- 11
Cool
Remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool on a wire rack before slicing.
