Method

Biscuits

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.

  3. 3

    Cut in Butter

Add the unsalted butter to the flour mixture and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  4. 4

    Add Milk and Cream

Stir in the milk and heavy cream until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 5

    Shape the Biscuits

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times. Pat it into a 1-inch thick rectangle and cut out biscuits using a round cutter.

  6. 6

    Bake

Place the biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Chicken Gravy

  1. 7

    Melt Butter

In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat.

  2. 8

    Make Roux

Whisk in the flour and cook for about 2 minutes until slightly golden.

  3. 9

    Add Chicken Broth

Slowly whisk in the chicken broth, ensuring there are no lumps.

  4. 10

    Season the Gravy

Add the shredded chicken, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and thyme. Stir well to combine.

  5. 11

    Simmer

Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 5-7 minutes.

  6. 12

    Serve

Spoon the hot chicken gravy over the freshly baked biscuits and serve immediately.
