Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Chill Your Glass

Begin by chilling your cocktail glass. You can do this by filling it with ice water and letting it sit while you prepare the drink.

  2. 2

    Mix the Ingredients

In a cocktail shaker or mixing glass, combine 2 oz of gin and 1 oz of dry vermouth. Fill the shaker or glass with ice to the top.

  3. 3

    Stir or Shake

If using a cocktail shaker, shake vigorously for about 15 seconds. If using a mixing glass, stir gently for about 30 seconds until well chilled.

  4. 4

    Strain into Glass

Empty the ice water from your cocktail glass and use a strainer to pour the mixed drink into the chilled glass.

  5. 5

    Garnish

Garnish your martini with either an olive or a lemon twist, depending on your preference. If using a lemon twist, twist the peel over the drink to release the oils before dropping it in.
