Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Mix the Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of warm water (about 110°F), 2 tablespoons of sugar, and the active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Combine Dry Ingredients
In a separate bowl, mix 6 cups of all-purpose flour and 1 tablespoon of salt.
- 3
Knead the Dough
Once the yeast mixture is frothy, pour it into the flour mixture. Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Mix until a shaggy dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
Let the Dough Rise
Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
Pizza Assembly
- 5
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
- 6
Prepare the Pizza Base
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two equal parts. Roll each part into a 16-inch circle on a floured surface.
- 7
Add Sauce and Toppings
Transfer each rolled dough onto a pizza stone or baking sheet. Spread 1 cup of pizza sauce evenly on each pizza base. Top with 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese and your choice of toppings (pepperoni, bell peppers, mushrooms, or onions).
- 8
Bake the Pizzas
Bake each pizza in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
- 9
Slice and Serve
Remove the pizzas from the oven, let them cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve hot.
