Marinara Sauce

Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring 4 liters of water to a rolling boil. Add a generous pinch of salt to the boiling water.

  2. 2

    Cook Spaghetti

Add 200 grams of spaghetti to the boiling water. Cook according to package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes, until al dente. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

  3. 3

    Drain and Set Aside

Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside. Do not rinse.

Making Marinara Sauce

  1. 4

    Heat Olive Oil

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.

  2. 5

    Sauté Onions and Garlic

Add 1 chopped onion and 3 minced garlic cloves to the skillet. Sauté until the onion is translucent and fragrant, about 4-5 minutes.

  3. 6

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in 400 grams of canned crushed tomatoes, 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, 1 teaspoon of dried basil, and salt and black pepper to taste. Bring the sauce to a simmer.

  4. 7

    Simmer Sauce

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens slightly.

Combining and Serving

  1. 8

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet with the marinara sauce. Toss gently to combine until the spaghetti is well coated with the sauce.

  2. 9

    Garnish and Serve

Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil leaves on top. Enjoy your homemade spaghetti with marinara sauce!
