Dough Ingredients

Method

Preparation and Baking

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy. Add the flour, salt, and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  2. 2

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  3. 3

    Shape the Knots

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into small pieces (about 1.5 inches each). Roll each piece into a rope, then tie it into a knot. Place the knots on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  4. 4

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  5. 5

    Bake the Knots

Bake the knots in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

  6. 6

    Make Garlic Parmesan Topping

While the knots are baking, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Remove from heat and stir in the Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, and salt to taste.

  7. 7

    Coat the Knots

Once the knots are done baking, remove them from the oven and brush them generously with the garlic Parmesan topping.

  8. 8

    Serve

Serve warm as a side or appetizer.
