Calzone Ingredients

Method

Preparation Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Filling

In a skillet over medium heat, add the Italian sausage and cook until browned and fully cooked. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until softened. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  2. 2

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooled sausage and mushroom mixture with pepperoni, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  3. 3

    Roll Out the Dough

On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into two large circles (about 10 inches in diameter).

  4. 4

    Fill the Calzones

Place half of the filling mixture on one half of each dough circle, leaving a border around the edge. Fold the other half of the dough over the filling and press the edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative finish.

  5. 5

    Bake the Calzones

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Brush the tops of the calzones with olive oil and cut a few slits in the tops to allow steam to escape. Place calzones on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

  6. 6

    Serve

Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve warm.
