For the Ladyfingers

Prepare the Ladyfingers
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a bowl, sift together flour and baking powder. Set aside.

Beat Egg Whites
In a clean bowl, beat the egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add granulated sugar and continue beating until stiff peaks form.

Pipe Ladyfingers
Transfer the batter to a piping bag fitted with a round tip. Pipe 3-inch long strips onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 1 inch apart.

Bake
Bake for 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden. Allow to cool completely.
For the Soaking Liquid

Prepare the Soaking Liquid
In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine Marsala wine, espresso, and sugar. Stir until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool.
For the Mascarpone Cream

Make Mascarpone Cream
In a large bowl, combine mascarpone cheese, heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Beat with an electric mixer until soft peaks form.
Assembly and Garnish

Assemble the Cake
Soak the ladyfingers in the cooled soaking liquid for a few seconds, then layer them in a round cake pan. Spread half of the mascarpone cream over the soaked ladyfingers.

Repeat Layers
Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone cream.

Chill
Cover and refrigerate the cake for at least 4 hours or overnight.

Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and sprinkle with toasted almonds.
