Meatballs

Pomodoro Sauce

Method

Meatballs Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form Meatballs

Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a lined baking sheet.

  3. 3

    Chill

Refrigerate the meatballs for at least 30 minutes to help them hold their shape during cooking.

Pomodoro Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Heat Olive Oil

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.

  2. 5

    Cook Garlic

Add minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  3. 6

    Add Tomatoes

Pour in the crushed canned tomatoes, and stir to combine.

  4. 7

    Season Sauce

Add fresh basil leaves, salt, black pepper, and sugar to the sauce. Stir well and let it simmer for about 15 minutes.

Cooking Meatballs

  1. 8

    Cook Meatballs

In another skillet or oven, cook the chilled meatballs until browned on all sides. If using the oven, bake at 200°C (400°F) for 20-25 minutes.

  2. 9

    Combine with Sauce

Once the meatballs are cooked, add them to the simmering pomodoro sauce. Let them cook together for an additional 10 minutes to soak up the flavors.

Serving

  1. 10

    Plate and Serve

Serve the meatballs topped with the pomodoro sauce. Optionally garnish with additional fresh basil and Parmesan cheese.
