Brewing Instructions

  1. 1

    Boil Water

Bring 1 cup of fresh, filtered water to a boil in a kettle.

  2. 2

    Measure Tea Leaves

While the water is boiling, measure out 2 teaspoons of Japanese green tea leaves.

  3. 3

    Cool Water Slightly

Once the water reaches a boil, remove it from heat and let it cool for about 1-2 minutes. Ideal brewing temperature for Japanese green tea is around 175°F (80°C).

  4. 4

    Steep Tea

Place the tea leaves in a teapot or a cup. Pour the cooled water over the tea leaves and let it steep for about 2-3 minutes.

  5. 5

    Strain and Serve

After steeping, strain the tea into a cup, discarding the leaves. If desired, add honey and/or a slice of lemon for extra flavor.
