Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Make the Dough
In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add water while mixing until a dough forms.
- 2
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
Filling Preparation
- 3
Prepare the Filling
In a large bowl, combine ground pork, finely chopped cabbage, green onions, minced garlic, minced ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
Assembly & Cooking
- 4
Roll the Dough
After resting, divide the dough into small pieces. Roll each piece into a thin circle, about 3 inches in diameter.
- 5
Fill the Dumplings
Place a teaspoon of filling in the center of each dough circle. Moisten the edges with water, fold the dough over the filling, and pinch to seal tightly.
- 6
Pan-Fry the Gyoza
Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once hot, place the gyoza in the skillet and fry until the bottoms are golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
- 7
Steam the Dumplings
Add 1 cup of water to the skillet, cover immediately, and reduce heat to low. Allow the gyoza to steam for about 6-8 minutes or until the water has evaporated and the gyoza are cooked through.
- 8
Serve
Remove the gyoza from the skillet and serve hot with soy sauce, if desired.
