Preparation of Ice Cream Base

Combine Ingredients
In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the whole milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until the sugar has fully dissolved.

Chill the Mixture
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours, or overnight for the best flavor.
Churning the Ice Cream

Churn the Base
Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions, usually about 20-25 minutes.

Add Mix-ins
If you are using optional mix-ins like chocolate chips or nuts, add them during the last 5 minutes of churning.
Freezing

Transfer and Freeze
Transfer the churned ice cream into an airtight container. If desired, drizzle caramel sauce on top before sealing. Freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm.
