Optional Additions

Method

Brewing the Tea

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a medium-sized pot, bring 2 cups of water to a rolling boil over medium-high heat.

  2. 2

    Add Tea Leaves

Once the water has boiled, add 2 tablespoons of Assam black tea leaves to the pot.

  3. 3

    Simmer

Reduce the heat to low and let the tea leaves simmer for about 3-5 minutes, depending on how strong you prefer your tea.

Adding Optional Ingredients

  1. 4

    Add Sugar

If desired, add 1 tablespoon of sugar to the brewed tea while it is still hot, stirring until dissolved.

  2. 5

    Add Milk

For a creamier texture, add 1 cup of milk to the pot and stir well. Allow the mixture to heat for another minute.

  3. 6

    Flavor with Spices

Crush 2 cardamom pods and add them to the pot along with a 1-inch piece of ginger (sliced or grated) for added flavor. Simmer for an additional 2 minutes.

Serving

  1. 7

    Strain and Serve

Using a fine mesh strainer, pour the brewed tea into cups, straining out the tea leaves and spices. Serve hot.
