Method
Coffee Base
- 1
Brew Coffee
Brew 1 cup of strong coffee using your preferred method (drip, pour-over, or French press). If you want a bolder drink, pull 1 shot of hot espresso in addition to or instead of part of the brewed coffee.
- 2
Preheat the serving glass or mug by rinsing it with hot water, then discard the water.
Liqueur & Sweetener
- 3
Pour 45 ml (about 1.5 fl oz) of imported amaretto into the warmed mug.
- 4
Add 15 ml brown sugar syrup to the mug and gently stir to combine with the amaretto.
- 5
Pour the hot brewed coffee (and espresso shot if using) into the mug over the liqueur and syrup, stirring gently to dissolve and blend flavors.
Dairy & Foam
- 6
Froth Milk
Steam or heat 120 ml whole milk to about 60-65°C (140-150°F). Froth the milk using a milk frother, steam wand, or by shaking vigorously in a sealed jar until you have a silky microfoam.
- 7
Float the frothed milk gently on top of the coffee and liqueur mixture to create a layered appearance.
- 8
Whipped Cream (optional)
Lightly whip 30 ml heavy cream until soft peaks form (about 10–20 seconds with a hand whisk or mixer). Spoon a dollop of whipped cream on top of the frothed milk if desired.
Garnish & Finish
- 9
Sprinkle 1 tsp toasted sliced almonds over the foam or whipped cream.
- 10
Add an optional pinch of cocoa powder for extra aroma and visual contrast.
- 11
Serve immediately while hot. Provide a small spoon for stirring as the guest prefers.
