Artichoke and Garlic Butter Sauce
Method
Preparation and Cooking
- 1
Prepare the Artichokes
Start by rinsing the fresh artichokes under cold water. Remove any small leaves at the base, and trim the tips of the leaves with scissors to remove any sharp edges.
- 2
Prepare the Steamer
In a large pot, add 4 cups of water and bring to a boil. Place a steaming basket or a heatproof plate in the pot, ensuring it's above the water level.
- 3
Steam the Artichokes
Once the water is boiling, place the prepared artichokes in the steaming basket or on the plate. Cover the pot and let them steam for about 25-30 minutes, or until the outer leaves pull away easily.
- 4
Make the Garlic Butter Sauce
While the artichokes are steaming, melt the unsalted butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Add the minced garlic, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and let it simmer for about 5 minutes, being careful not to burn the garlic.
- 5
Serve
Once the artichokes are done steaming, remove them from the pot and let them cool slightly. Serve the artichokes warm with the garlic butter sauce drizzled over them or on the side for dipping. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley.
