Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare Chicken
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Take the chicken breasts and place them between two sheets of plastic wrap. Use a meat mallet to pound the chicken to an even thickness, about 1-inch thick. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.
- 2
Breading Process
Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with grated Parmesan cheese. Dredge each chicken breast in flour, then dip in the egg, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
- 3
Fry the Chicken
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the breaded chicken breasts. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Place them in a baking dish once done.
- 4
Add Sauce and Cheese
Pour marinara sauce evenly over the chicken, then sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
- 5
Bake
Transfer the baking dish to the preheated oven and bake for about 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- 6
Serve
Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil if desired, and serve hot.
