Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

1

Chill a coupe or martini glass by placing it in the freezer or filling with ice water while you prepare the cocktail.

2

In a cocktail shaker, add the cucumber slices and mint leaves. Muddle gently 6–8 times — just enough to release cucumber juice and mint aroma without shredding the leaves (this keeps bitterness down).

3

Add Hendrick's Gin (2 oz), fresh lemon juice (0.75 oz) and simple syrup (0.5 oz) to the shaker.

4

Fill the shaker with ice (about 6 cubes), cap, and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is very cold.

5

Empty the chilled glass of ice water if used. Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove small cucumber and mint particles.

Garnish & Finish

6

Garnish

Thread a cucumber ribbon or slice onto the rim or float it on the surface of the drink. Gently slap the mint sprig between your hands to release oils and place it on top of the cocktail.

7

Optionally express a lemon twist over the cocktail (pinch the peel over the glass to spray oils) and discard or drop the twist in for aroma.

8

Serve immediately while cold.
