Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pasta

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Béchamel Sauce

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, whisk in the flour and cook for about 1-2 minutes to form a roux, stirring constantly.

  3. 3

    Add Milk

Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring no lumps form. Continue to cook and stir until the mixture thickens and comes to a simmer.

  4. 4

    Add Cheeses

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the aged cheddar and parmesan cheese until completely melted and smooth. Season with salt, black pepper, and mustard powder.

  5. 5

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the cooked elbow macaroni to the cheese sauce and mix until the pasta is evenly coated.

  6. 6

    Prepare for Baking

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the mac and cheese to a greased baking dish. Sprinkle panko bread crumbs evenly over the top.

  7. 7

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.

  8. 8

    Serve

Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your delicious mac and cheese!
