Method

Burger Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Patties

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently and form into 4 equal-sized patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each patty.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes or until they reach your desired level of doneness.

  3. 3

    Add the Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss or Cheddar cheese on each patty and cover to melt the cheese.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Buns and Toppings

While the patties are cooking, slice the tomato and onion. If desired, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Burgers

On the bottom half of each bun, layer mixed greens, the cooked patty with melted cheese, sliced tomato, pickles, and onion. Top with the other half of the bun.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the burgers immediately with a side of shoestring fries or sweet potato fries.
