Method

Preparation of Topping

  1. 1

    Chop the Tomatoes

Wash and dice the ripe tomatoes into small pieces. Place them in a large bowl.

  2. 2

    Add Basil and Garlic

Finely chop the fresh basil leaves and add them to the bowl with the tomatoes. Mince the garlic cloves and add them as well.

  3. 3

    Season the Mixture

Add salt and black pepper to the tomato mixture. Stir well to combine all the ingredients. Set aside to allow the flavors to meld.

Grilling the Bread

  1. 4

    Slice the Baguette

Cut the baguette into 1/2 inch thick slices on a diagonal.

  2. 5

    Brush with Olive Oil

Using a brush, coat one side of each slice with olive oil.

  3. 6

    Grill the Bread

Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium heat. Place the slices of bread on the grill, oiled side down. Grill for about 2-3 minutes until grill marks appear, then flip and grill the other side for another 1-2 minutes until golden and crispy.

Assembly

  1. 7

    Top the Grilled Bread

Remove the grilled bread from the heat. Spoon the tomato mixture generously onto the grilled side of each slice.

  2. 8

    Serve Immediately

Arrange the bruschetta on a serving platter and serve immediately while the bread is still warm.
